Ogaga Odele — sophomore student at Purdue ECE and researcher of CI4ENE group, has launched the first version of a MATLAB simulation tool: Freshman Engineering Modeling Kit V0.1. This simulation tool aims at helping freshman engineering students to learn statistics and functions in an visualized and interactive setting. Launching the statistics tool in this version, students can set the mean and standard deviation of normal distribution to examine how the shape of the curve change. While in the function discovery interface, students can set the various parameters of linear, exponential, logarithmic and power functions to observe the changes of these curves. This platform could help students gain a comprehensive understanding of these functions and related parameters.
